Which of these stories was most helpful to you? What stories do you have of Stoic practice in action?

4:32 Great advice... it's so important to compartmentalize tasks while working on something greater. When I get stressed out, it often means that I focus too much on the bigger picture, so reaching my goal seems impossible. Think small, act big ;). Good stuff, you're killing it!

I learned something from the very introduction of this story. The FOUNDER of stoicism was once self-conscious and anxious about petty things when he was younger. It's easy to think that the people we look up to for guidance have always just been like that - they've always had the edge, whether from their upbringing or from certain events in their life. We don't realize that they are human, just like us.

No matter where you are or who you are right now, never forget that you can and will become your ideal self.

My favourite great quote about suffering in advance:
“I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them have never happened.”

- Mark Twain

Here's a quote I love: “True happiness is to enjoy the present without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied, for he that is wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not” – Seneca.

Love that story about Zeno with the soup. You gotta get comfortable with being uncomfortable

Definitely the best story for me here was don’t suffer in advance. This came at a great time to help me realize that I’ve done everything I can do on a project and now I can’t do anything else until approvals come in. Worrying about it won’t influence the powers that be; ie, let it go until you have something to do.

What works most for me is knowing that suffering in one's imagination far exceeds suffering at the time of an actual bad event. I've also concluded that stoicism has a lot to do with finding comfort.

Great vlog, thank you! It would be great to see more interviews with notable Stoics, philosophers, writers, scientists on these topics as well as the monologs. I loved the series you did with Robert Green.

I read "Obstacle" over 20 times. It sustained me in a difficult time and continues to do so, I'm very grateful for your work.

I dont have much to say but all I wanna say is thank you 🙏 suffering in advance is wasteful energy . I need to release my need to control let it all go surrender into that flow state

III. has been the most challenging for me ever since I was a teenager. Still find myself thinking of the worst-case scenario for the most mundane situations. You might say I have been the perfect example for the quote by Seneca, “We suffer more in imagination than in reality”. And not just in my personal life, but business too. Ironically, when I find myself down that rabbit hole, it’s my wife that reminds me to go re-read my Stoic principles. Gotta love her for that! Anyway, how do I Practice? Several years back I developed a new perspective of the Now, so to speak. I realized spending most of my time thinking of what could happen was stealing so much of my Now time. Sort of like living more in the future, than in the present. This perspective evolved into a genuine appreciation for each and every moment. That’s all life is anyway, just a series of moments that we experience one right after the other. What is so beautiful about this, and why it’s so great to be a sentient being on this planet, is we get to choose how we live those moments. So, why not choose to be the best person you can be today! What have you got to lose? Only a few moments! Have a Great Today!

It gets to me the part of suffering for what other people may think of you. I put myself in the spot light very often, I dress very different than people of my small town, and I receive this looks, and its not easy for me, but then I think: what does it matter what they think? What matters is what I think about me. And I try to remember that. Also its a problem of being too selfabsorbed; I should take it more lightly, with more humor. If in this case its causing me such trouble, imagen something more important, like a social position for instance or similar. How difficult it is for the Human being declare himself different from the rest of his comunity...
