Sun ‘n Fun 2019 - Departures 20-feet from Runway

This year at Sun 'n Fun 2019, my new friend Mark, a volunteer at the event, took me on a wonderful "backstage" tour of the event which culminated with a FRONT-ROW viewing of the departures from Lakeland (KLAL) on RW 09. This was a great opportunity to flip my camera to the "on" position for a live stream on YouTube. I hope you enjoy this special vantage point, and hope you will forgive any wind noise and camera "shake" as this was a spontaneous opportunity!

Thanks for bringing us the Sun-n-Fun's Departing "Parade of Planes". A lot of people don't see it. For me it has always been a highlight of being in the SnF campground area.

As much as I loved the show, there were some noticeable absences: No Albatrosses, very few seaplanes (I was hoping to get a glimpse of my favorite plane, the ultra-rare Royal Gull but not this time), no B-24, few classic airliners (Convair, DC-4, etc) Really wanted a Bell 47 ride or Trimotor ride and surprisingly, nothing this time. I went last in 2015 and felt there was a lot more to see, in general. Still, good times.

I presume this was on Saturday? You got a great spot - I was in the fenced area where there were some GA planes parked and taxying out, as soon as personal let folks in that area. That's my favorite part of the show, the mass departures.

AeroStar not a twin Commander but loves Avgas too :)

Josh, All Bonanza's are "V" tails with the exception of the "36" series of Bonanza's. All Straight Tails are Debonair's. Cheers, thanks for the great show.... Did that B-17 take off with the Bomb Bay open????

That Bellanca comes up as being deregistered with the number reserved. Maybe it's not the same plane and the registry isn't updated yet?

Looked like the B-17 took off with the bomb bay doors open ?

Can't watch, get a tripod or a monopod, video stabilazation required here. No thumbs up.
To reply, this is a good video but my eyeballs were shaking out of my head trying to watch it giving me a headache. I went back to watch the finish take off of the fortress, now that was great. Thanks

Because 90% of these planes are run-of-the-mill Cessna/Piper/Mooney etc. just taxiing by, not sure why you think people want to watch this. Edit to the interesting aircraft. And wind noise-- "nothing I can do about it"? Do your homework Josh. There are foam windscreens for the microphone, $20.

Damn, kids today! If you get that excited over a DC-3 and have no idea what the planes are, Go back to car shows! Sad video. Well video is ok announcer sucks! What a waste of time!
