Could today's world beat the rumbling? Yeah, I'll just cut the chase, probably. In today's video, we go over just how hilariously outclassed the wall titans would be against modern technology.

Hey, so the video has a muted part. Sorry about that, there were some issues. BUT, here is a fixed version:

To be fair, this is a large part of why Eren did the Rumbling in the first place- even AoT's technology was on the verge of reaching a level of development that rendered titans obsolete, so within a matter of decades the threat of the Rumbling would no longer be an effective deterrent.

Titans becoming obsolete due to modern technology was literally one of the main plot points in AOT

The most realistic thing that would occur is someone would catch a titan and make an infinite steam generator by stabbing and letting the titan heal, repeatedly.

kinda funny how a lot of end of the world scenarios probably just wouldn't really happen due to humanity being really really good at killing things

The line “it’s faster than a galloping horse” becomes more terrifying when you consider Hange’s point of reference is probably the Scout Regiment’s horses, and Scout Horses are bread to be absolute units of speed and endurance.

I just find it funny how erens expression would just shift entirely the moment he saw a single missile obliterate 100 titans.

Remember that early in the series, it was discovered that titans weigh significantly less than what their size suggests. That's why despite being a massive 50m tall colossus, they can **walk** faster than a galloping horse

4:51 Actually, I just want to point out a detail in the anime. The militaries outside the wall never used airships to drop bombs. We only saw them drop feral titans onto a target. So when we saw them do that last ditch attack with the blimps, they just used barrels of gasoline as explosives because they never developed any bombs to drop from the blimps.

The whole point of triggering the rumbling was that technological advancements were slowly making Titans less effective and would eventually make them useless.

So the story kinda answers that question already

I feel like the main problem isn't whether we could stop the rumbling because we definitely can, but the internal political machine and the world's overall response time to the event. If the world doesn't authorize the use of nukes right away and stomp out the rumbling immediately the titans might spread out via swimming across the planet and some might turn up on the shores of multiple countries. We say nuking them would be easy but the question becomes alot harder when countries have to nuke their own shorelines and possibly compromise a ton of their land/cities with how devastatingly large the blast radius of some nukes are. This would prompt them to try to use conventional weaponry instead which could work but by the time it does the collateral damage would be massive. Thus it would give the titans time to move inland making the use of nukes even more of a detriment. I don't exactly have faith in modern day governments to be able to make those split-second decisions for the survival of humanity.

Not only were the wall titans boiling the water they were swimming in, they were boiling salt water which has a higher boiling point than just plain water

Aren’t anyone gonna mention the scene where one of the titan got cut by the foot, fell down, and the other titan just trip over their dead body friends in domino effects? I think this can be played around to great extent and slow their advance.

Not to mention mountain ranges, many mountains around the world are far taller than the rumbling titan and steep too, they didn’t show us the titan ability to “climb” yet so I doubt with how dumb these titan are tripping over their friends, that they could climb over mountains.

One also has to remember that most of the worlds military defense in other countries was recently destroyed by the Beast, Jaw, and Armored titans. Followed by some of the world's most allied military personnel, who all gathered in one place to celebrate victory and was later crushed by The Attack titan. The world was well in a weakened state and a perfect time to have the Rumbling.

According to Science of Attack on Titan which is a Spinoff Databook created by Hajime Isayama. the overall number of wall titans is approximately only about 800, 000. next thing The Horses from Paradis Island are bred specifically to have an average speed of 70 km/hr which is way faster than your normal domesticated horse.

Side note: The original Tsar Bomba was nerfed to be about half of its full potential at the time. The russian government was scared that the bomb would be so powerful that it could rip a permanent hole in the ozone layer and send the world into a new ice age

the fact that hange managed to deal with like 5 on her own kinda makes the whole threat greatly lessened

If you thought the rumbiling was scary just think if the Cold War went thermal

I mean even in AoT they mentioned the world is a couple generations away from titans being irrelevant to modern militaries.
