I love how the triplets in the chorus were written to hit the up beat with the snare, and the bass on the down beat- when i listen with my eyes closed, it creates a "push pull" feeling in my brain. Genius

Gosh, can't you guys just be excited for a new song? I don't get why people bash bands for changing a little. All songs cannot sound the same, or they would all be the same song... We all change, we all evolve. I think this is amazing.

I disagree with anyone who says this album was too “pop” or mainstream- sonically this album was more fresh and still had dark elements with dark lyricism. Give it a closer listen next time.

Seriously, the vocals are just so breathtaking, the background effects. It's really a work of art, absolutely beautiful.

This sounds as good as their past work, but even more careful, melodic, and polished in style. I absolutely love this song.

You were young and you'd stare
With a reverence unimpaired
There was an echo far and faint
Beneath the air remained
You were young and you'd stare
Where my limbs hung far and fair
Make a ladder of what folds
And climb up in me

You push and you pull and you tell yourself no its like when you lie down, the veins grow in slow
You push and you pull
But you'd never know
I crept up in you and I
Wouldn't let go

There was no light and I swear
I could see your raring fear
I heard the plains moaning back
I saw thunder roll o'er black
There was no light and I swear
We sat still in our fear
Make a ladder of what folds
And climb up in me

You push and you pull
And you tell yourself no
It's like when you lie down
The veins grow in slow
You push and you pull
But you'd never know
I crept up in you and I
Wouldn't let go

I carve out the spaces (and I)
Imparted graces (and I)
I couldn't shake it (and I)

I built a constellation lair
Out of the moles that hovered there a fever billowed with the wind and I blade the sky therein
I build a constellation lair
Out of the moles that hovered there make a pardon of what knows and climb up in me

You push and you pull and you tell yourself no it's like when you lie down the veins grow in slow
You push and you pull
But you'd never know
I crept up in you and I
Wouldn't let go

You push and you pull and you tell yourself no
It's like when you lie down the veins grow in slow
You push and you pull
But you'd never know
I crept up in you and I
Wouldn't let go 😊

This is already the best music that is out in the world right now. Thank you, Purity Ring.

I love this. Megan's voice is seriously touching. I'm melting over how good this is.

Accidentally wandered upon this. Never heard this genre before. Magical, imaginative and haunting are words that come to mind with this group for me. "Begin Again" is another one that painted a perfect picture in my head of beauty in destruction. Well crafted.

THOSE ARPEGGIATED TRIPLETS IN THE CHORUS MAKE THE SONG 30x BETTER

They're back...!  Purity Ring and Flume should collab on a project! That would make my life.

I absolutely love her voice. Definitely one of my favourite singers of all time. Can't wait for the new album ^^

I don't know if this will resonate with anyone else, but my impression of this song is that it sounds like it was created for a movie soundtrack. It's like "Lights" by Phantogram. It's not bad, but it feels kind of uncharacteristic of the band. It has a sort of generic beat and rhythm to it, like it's made to play in the background of a sentimental movie scene, you know?

On first listen, I was super disappointed, because I had such high expectations for whatever would come after Shrines. After a few more listens (with headphones. you really should use them, to fully feel and appreciate Corin's textured production and Megan's beautiful vocals) I came to enjoy it for what it is.

The chorus especially is really powerful. Megan's lyrics are fantastic, as expected. Repeat listening in a relaxed setting with an open mind free of expectations will definitely result in the song creeping up in you, and not letting go ;)

There is truly no other band more unique and original than Purity Ring. No one could copy Corrin and Megan's sound if they tried.

I hope more people are admiring their music--as a whole, Purity Ring's music has the most surreal lyrics of any song I've experienced. The otherworldly feeling that it brings me when her voice and the background music combine is unexplainable! Somehow, this group creates music that makes you feel nostalgic for no specific reason. I had stopped listening to their music a few years ago, and I had forgotten about them until I found an old Spotify playlist. I heard Repetition and I was already listening to their entire album. Amazing!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! If this is the new direction they're going in, I can't wait for the album.

This song would be perfect for a movie - perhaps a scene where someone loves a person that does not feel the same way, or they 'dont even know they exist', and it plays as they watch the person they love, moving through life without them - everything moving on the screen in slow motion....

Fantastic track. From a fellow Albertan: keep up the great work ya'll! <3

It's a bit more pop BUT I still love them. And this song, glad to hear her voice again
