I remember feeling this was the most important place to be in the universe that night. Thank you Vanessa baby for getting me to that night.

I bawled my eyes out watching that back in the day and I'm still flowing with tears watching it on YouTube

The audience was so uplifting and probably a great comfort to Gord. Good on you all. I was singing at home. I still cry hearing his voice. I miss him so much.

So much emotion that night, and for the entire tour. Every person felt as though Gord was singing directly to them. He was everyones friend. Miss him and the band so much.

Can you imagine tens of thousands of people all madly in love with this man, knowing all the lyrics to these amazing songs? A it’s so emotional, I still cry watching them, every time.

Truly a work of art. This man left in all on the the end! An inspiration from probably the most modest of guys in the music world. I don't cry or tear too easy but, when Gord does his thing at the end of this song, it makes me tear up. I could think of a million others who could have what happened to Gord. Not naming names but, they know who they are. Gord, I would trade places with you as you brought so much joy, reasoning, compassion, humour and everything else you love in a human being. Where as me, I can't even make myself happy. Truly humble fellow, Mr. Downie. Wish to go on and try to continue being a compassionate Canadian and much more kinder to our fellow man and woman! Cheers!

My god, 20, 000 fans singing along word for word. Truely Canada's house band. We will never see the likes of the Hip again.

Eternally grateful to whoever videotaped this.
Damn but Gordie was one of a kind.
Wherever you are, I hope you’re in a good place.

For me, this has always been their best song played live as it rises and falls giving Gord the time to wail and improvise. They opened with this the first and only time they played on SNL. That was great. This version was sublime. The king is dead but his spirit lives on (and on, and on…)

Let's forever remember the piece of our culture that we've lost this week. Gord forever ❤

I have traveled the world from Shanghai to Nairobi to Tehran to St. Petersburgh and I am often asked what it means to be a Canadian. The simplest answer is ... Gord Downie.
