In this video I react to You Lied, performed by Tool on Salival.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician on the road at age 17 for two years, but went part-time ever since while holding day careers including as a chef and in spiritual health care while raising a family.
I've recorded hundreds of my own songs- many being used in media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, performing in International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I abandoned the prog genre more or less back in the 1990s but have returned to it now with vigour a full 30 years later- so much prog I've ignored and quite frankly didn't have any idea about. My own prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i detoured into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar and ambient electric as well).

Fun fact about Justin- He told his bandmates in Peach he was auditioning for Tool and that was the end of Peach. He then wrote the music for 46 & 2 and used it as his audition piece for Tool.

Hopefully you will be able to see them if things get better and better. We have to be patient but in the end it will be worth all the wait.

Salival was released between Aenima and Lateralus and I think you really can hear the transition in the sound on this album, bridging the gap so to speak.

Dean can you check out Chevelle-So Long, Mother Earth. Off their new album N.I.R.A.T.I.A.S (nothing is real and this is a simulation). Chevelle has always been considered hard rock/alt metal but never really "progressive" even though they are influenced by Tool and other progressive artist, they have always stayed just inside the lines. This album is their most progressive to date (lightly so) and it is a concept album. The song So Long, Mother Earth has some amazing riffs, hard hitting bass and soaring vocals. I think you would really enjoy and I think it is progressive adjacent enough to fit what you do. Thanks! (Also revist Circa Survive - Lustrations if you have time.)
