That math for the 4000 hours training regiment: 4000 hours would be 166.67 days studying 24hr a day (physically impossible).
But 4000 hours to American work weeks (40 hours or 8 hour days, 5
days a week) is 100 work weeks . So, theoretically, it would take you just shy of 2 years of studying 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (if you take weekends off) at the minimum, to become a GM, not factoring in tournament play to gain 170 Elo.

If you don’t take weekends off, it would be 71.43 weeks (8 hour days, 7 days a week) or 1 year, 4 months, 24 days of studying, not factoring in tournament play.

If I was a GM I would build a house that looks like a rook and live there and all my neighbors would be like "that thing is ruining the neighborhood".

"I did everything right and I still lost" - well that seems unlikely Levy...

1800 lichess is not 1300-1400 chesscom people always exaggerate the difference, it’s not more than 300 pts lower
It doesn’t apply as much the higher up you go but for instance I’m 2200 lichess and 2100 chesscom

Very true. The difference between 100 ELO points is insane

Levy has retired but he knows how long it could take to become a GM.
Whilst it takes some people 9 years of studying for about 10 hours a day as well as competing; some people just don’t get there.
He knows how hard it is to increase your ELO…
Easy at low levels but much harder at IM.
How easy is it to get 1.5M subs on YT??
Levy also knows the answer to that question too.
Do GMs lose??
Sometimes.
Could Gotham hit 2M subs?
Maybe.
He is the ‘Heineken’ of Chess content creation.

Levy can you make videos about strong GM who was in top 10 or 20 but are underrated like...I dont know Mikhail Botvinnik, Paul Keres, Akiba Rubenstain...
You should make serial about underrated players best games.

the elo should be 300 different right?
because on one you start with 1200 and on the other one you start with 1500

10 points in 25 hours so 170 points is 17 * 25 which is 425 hours

Levy did the math wrong. 25 hours is for 10 ELO not 1 ELO. So he says 400 hours for GM. Sounds real close to me!

Yeah, back when I used to play on lichess, I peaked at about 1500 consistently. At the same time, I was 800-900 chess.com. I’ve improved a lot since then, and now I’m about 1500 on chess.com, which makes me wonder what my current day lichess rating would be. Maybe I’ll find out.

I say 1800 Lichess is about 1400 Fide.

In the thumbnail, he put a decimal point, meaning it only takes 10 hours

This is a joke, if you see this I hope you have a nice day
