ASUS ROG's Falchion NX Keyboards are more powerful than you'd expect. You have your standard configuration but their new NX switches provide easier typing for faster actions in games, and their touch bar is more useful than gimmicky.

I'd love to see a video of a few LTT members building their own custom boards with parts they choose. The curveball could be ruling out common switches like cherry.

I’m glad USB-C is becoming more common for keyboards.

Why did I just buy a new Keyboard! I'll figure out someway to justify this lol, I love that touch bar idk why but I really do.

In light of the latest Linux challenge, I would love to see info about the software compatibility of peripherals. Namely, that it's always been hot garbage and needs to be reverse engineered every time. I think a big name like LTT could coerce manufacturers to at least release specs on the protocol. Security aside, this is where WebUSB could shine; imagine going to their website to configure your keyboard instead of needing to install their software to change the colors once.

I've seen exactly one of these form factor keyboards with actual F keys. I'd probably get one if there was more choice. A magnetic clip on f1 strip would be fun

I got the regular Falchion with MX red switches and it's a brilliant keyboard.
Battery life is insanely good, the cover isn't a gimmick and it holds the keyboard in place really well, and prevents it from getting dirty underneath (using it as a portable laptop keyboard).
I personally didn't install Asus' software because I don't like the 100 services they run in the background, but you don't really have to install it as you can use a lot of the features without the software. The manual has the key shortcuts for all the stuff you need such as macros and lighting etc

If the falchion is made for a true minimalist why isn't Riley doing this video?

I just wish there was a slightly larger one with home and end keys. Although since I never use pgup and pgdwn I guess I could just remap those.

I like how James was demoralised when he realized that you could get 4 good no name brand keyboards for the price of this one

That side touch bar actually looks like it would be useful, especially for a small keyboard like that. Not having a dedicated volume button is always an instant turn off and this looks like it could even be useful in other stuff.

Now I just have to figure out a way to talk myself in spending $150 + shipping for it...

ASUS! Make a 84 key setup with the esc/f-keys directly above that top row and add a sensor bar or another couple small keys in front of the spacebar. Bonus points for splitting the spacebar in half and allowing us to reprogram half the spacebar. IMO the thumb could be doing a lot more work in certain games.

It looks like such a good keyboard. I just wish that they made a version with a function row. Even just small rubber dome rubber keys if the size needs to be kept down.

Having seen Apple's touch bar I don't know why people hate it. Function keys should be standard perhaps, but having context-specific shortcut keys like that, seemed honestly to be quite useful

Too many people don’t understand that the OEMs like Razer, Asus, Corsair, etc., don’t even make decent boards, let alone good ones.

While Corsair, Steelseries, and Asus are trying to step up their game, I would soomer recommend a Keychron Q1, KBD67 Lite, or a cheap Skyloong GK hotswap board. There are just so many better options out there…

I have the older Falchion. It's okay for the price (I got it for about 100usd), I want the Nordic keyboard layout so not as many options for me. Would have appreciated the ability to pair with multiple devices if they're coming up with a new one though.

For someone who is one of the tens of keyboard enthusiast as out there this is a pretty damn good keyboard. The build quality is really solid and the switches are pretty good though they do have a bit of a scratchy texture to them like your regular cherry switch. Out the box as far as non-custom keyboards go I’d probably put this third after the ducky one two mini line and keychron k6, a bit of grease and you have a very nice keyboard on your hands. Only thing I have a complaint about is the lack of stabilisers for the larger keys outside of the space bar, they seem like a minor thing but they make a big difference to the typing experience, though for the “gamer” market its not the biggest of deals
