MUSIC SHOULD BE LOUDER TO GET MAX EFFECT OF PLUTONIUM

Plutonium isn't THAT bad, it's got a long half life and decays via alpha emission and spontaneous fission.
Cobalt 60, on the other hand has a short halflife and is therefore more radioactive through gamma rays. Much worse, need much more shielding.

"Plutonium?!? Are you telling me this sucker is nuclear?!?"

"No, no, no"
"This sucker is electrical, but i need a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity i need"

Plutonium's deadliness depends on what you do with it, Francium on the other hand, if you had enough to see, you'd already be dead.

Trace elements of plutonium are found in naturally occurring uranium ores. Here, it is formed in a way similar to neptunium: by irradiation of natural uranium with neutrons followed by beta decay.

Fun fact :plutonium wad used in old Russian smoke detecters that you can buy here in the states but there is only 10-12 milligrams at most, also most of the plutonium-241 had turned into element americium -241 through beta or alpha radiation it's not much pu material now, but I can use it for my element collection :]

3:10 It’s extremely hard but it breaks easy? 🤔
That’s a paradox.

I love the shows of how it's made but these tik-tock commercials have got to stop it will be nice when the Tok is banned in this country

There are many misconceptions about plutonium, depending on the isotope you could hold it in your hand without issue. No one has ever died or even been harmed by touching it, though people are very scared of it. The real danger is when you get a critical mass of it in one place and it goes prompt critical, this is very bad and has killed several people.

The notion that denser metals have higher melting (boiling) points, is not entirely true, as the narration suggested. For example Zinc is less dense than Tin, but has a much higher melting point.

i live near hanford site, where this site made plutonium for the manhattan project. after watching this video, i got scared because hanford now is cleaning up the plutonium waste used during WWII and the cold war. i got scare when i was told plutonium waste can explode and can spread.

M. Sc. of chemistry here: No, you are mistaken! Most common isotopes of plutonium you could actually hold in your hand without additional protection.... those specific isotopes need HUGE amounts of enrichment to become dangerous. 😉

That wasn't the case years ago, that is the watches that glow, were in fact radiation, which is why the plant is still sealed and closed off, to this very day.

Rolex watches don't have tritium in them, they use a substance called "Superluminova" which collects UV light and gets its glow from that. It's a standard feature in most Swiss watches (my Tissot Seastar 2000 included).

The main watch companies that use tritium are Ball from the USA and Marathon from Canada.

I keep plutonium in a salt shaker to sprinkle on my bacon in the morning. My teeth are falling out but it sure makes the bacon taste great !
