putting the lid back on is somewhat tricky, The pressure on the lid (the back cover) must not be solely in the center, as it would be if you use just your thumb, but it should be applied evenly and distributed on the entire lid evenly then it will close without a problem. If one were to press hard in the center only it is easy to deform the lid and make it unusable. The sign this has happened if you cannot put the back cover back on with the gasket. It will go on without the gasket but this is not the idea. If this happens to you then the back cover is already deformed and needs to be replaced. This is especially true for the larger diameter flat watches by Skagen.

I couldn't get the back on the watch while the rubber washer was in position.Remove the rubber washer from round the metal back and then place the watch on thin foam dish cloth, place the back in the exact position and then use a wooden rolling pin with flat circular end of approximately same diameter as watch back and then press down with all your strength. The back will click into position. It means the watch won't be quite as waterproof, without the washer. But at least you're not paying _20 -30 pounds for battery fitting. 6 batteries cost £4 on internet.

Picking up the battery with a pair of metal tweezers….are u doin a short circuit while placing the battery into the watch?
If there is no layer of isolation between the Batterie und the tweezers the battery will be shorted.

Please don’t use metal tweezers to hold the battery - you are creating a circuit which can short the battery rendering it useless. Please use plastic tweezers
