At valve people can work on whatever they want, the people in charge of paying you may dock your pay if your not working on something of "value", but you won't be fired
Yes, this means that it's not the valve higher ups that are pushing tf2 to death, it's every single valve employee

Unfortunately valve games suffer from valves success, why work on tf2 and make a few millions when they can work on steam or other projects and make a lot more
