What is the religious meaning of the fluer-de-lis?

We see the fleur-de-lis symbol everywhere. It is often used in famous art and architecture, particularly in Catholic churches. It is the logo for the New Orleans Saints football team as well as many other sports teams at the college and high school level. It is a part of the Boy Scouts logo. It can be found on fences, on wall paper, and in clothing. But what is its origin and meaning?

Although it may not be obvious in its traditional design, the fleur-de-lis is a stylized flower. "Fleur" means "flower" in French and "lis" means "lily." In fact, the symbol was often used throughout history to refer to the French monarchy. The symbol is also closely linked to the city of Florence in Italy.

Its religious origin and meaning is attached to the Blessed Virgin Mary, her husband St. Joseph, or the Blessed Trinity.

In classic artwork depicting the Blessed Virgin Mary, she is either holding a white flower or white flowers appear nearby. These flowers are symbols of her purity as virgin and Mother of God. The symbol of the white lily flower is particularly prevalent in art depicting the Annunciation.

St. Joseph, Mary's most-chaste spouse, is also often depicted with a white lily nearby to express his purity as well.

The stylized design of three flower pedals connected at the bottom allows this symbol to represent the Blessed Trinity as well: one God, three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

It's worth noting that St. Joan of Arc is almost always shown with the fleur-de-lis, but this is because she was fighting for the kingdom of France.

Fleur de lis means ...
" the bloomed 2 petals on the side represent insight / enlightenment has been gained.
The middle bulb ready to explode represents " there is endless wisdom/ knowledge/ insight to be gained still is endless".The message is to keep seeking.

It's also a spearhead with blades on either side, signifying the militant prowess of the frankish conquests. Kings are often associated with weapon symbols in reference to their commanding position.

It's also a symbol of the north and immaculate conception (hence it's link to Mary). Sometimes the lilly or another flower is used in a myth as to what caused a virgin's pregnancy. Look up older compass roses or compasses and sometimes the northern spoke has this symbol on it. That gets into northern symbolism which is another topic of conversation. Great video, thanks.

The Fleur-de-Lis, is also found a great deal in The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose California. It adorns the wood railings, Tiffany stained glass windows, and laminae wall paper . For the creator of the house, Sarah Winchester believed it symbolized the Blessed Trinity. The connection of mind, body and Soul/ Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
As a child, I was entranced by the numbers of this beautiful flower in the house. A 160 Victorian mansion, that my grandparents were the live-in caretakers and managers of the Winchester House for 36 years. I spent every summer of my childhood and my teen years. After graduating from High School, I became a tour guide there, and my tours marvelled at the presense of this symbol of purity, courage and strength placed throughout the house.

Disciples of Mary?
“Come out of her (idolatry), my people…lest you be caught up in her sins (Mt7:23 practice of lawlessness/anomia/rejection of Torah…the only Bible Jesus had, taught or “authorized”), and suffer her punishments! (Rev18:4)

Come on, guys! Leave the Dark Ages! We have God’s Word (Septuagint and Dead Sea Scrolls) and can obey God, rather than pagan Roman dictators who literally fulfilled Daniel’s identification of the Antichrist!

Do not add nor take away from Scripture! (Dt4:2, Rev22:18)

All the focus on Mary is rank idolatry which God will not wink at…

Leave Jesus’ mom alone! She said she needed the salvation of Messiah just like any other human.

“None is righteous…no…not one!”

This lesson ran like it was a kindergarten lesson. No offense to the presenter. But I must say, this absolutely shows the lack of discipline many people in a "religious" community have. I mean Wiki can do better than that. When researching a symbol of any kind it takes more than the simple keyboard strikes and the enter button a few times. Symbols often take on much more meaning than what is seen on the surface. Typically they take on multiple meanings layered in years of development and morphing. For instance, we could say the the Fleur-de-lis symbolizes the tri-union nature of beings in this 3 dimensional realm. Only possible through the congruency of Body(matter)- Mind(ether-thought-akash)- Spirit(heaven). Or the long lineage royal connotation it holds through both spurious and genuine tradition. In root origin, the Fleur-de-lis can be easily traced back prior to Sumer and the first establishment of the human monarchy, Cain, and his Kingship. Why? Because Lilith/Isis, a cultural and religious epithet, was regarded and recorded as one of Cain's (Kawin) original wives. In closed and occulted royal circles, Lilith is the Queen of all queens. The Gaea or Gaia of all mothers. She was known as the Lilly of peace, Lilly of the river, Lilly of sexual union, the flower of life (not to be confused with modern variations), and on and on. The Lilly, in that far east, exceptions to other regions and their flowers, has always been associated with the mother Goddess and the matriarchal bloodline that sprang forth all royalty. From this point on the lilly or Fleur-de-lis takes on similar variations for thousands of years. In ancient Egypt, pre and post-dynastic, it took on the form of a Queen bee, for obvious reasons. It can also vary slightly as a palm, from the palm tree, due to the designation of the linking of royal palms in the Near East. Much later, the Fleur-de-lis was carried onto many different areas of the world. Its ancient influence is easily seen by the shapes representation on royal coins, Script, banners, carving, architecture, and pottery in India, and Pakistan before 1000 BCE. Archeologists and Anthropologists alike have found its use to be most prolific to two related ethno-cultural groups. The Scythians and the Celts. And this was prior to the Franks. In all of its many uses the Fleur-de-lis has only been relegated to Royal verse. Perhaps more recently modern military units, sports teams, and other organizations have adopted it. But truthfully, its ancient lineage speaks for itself and only belongs to one rightful owner. That being Lilith/Lilly. In actuality, a whole book can be written on it. But for the casual reader, The Fleur-de-lis in short form represents the mother Goddess of old. The Catholic religion simply inherited its ichnographic meaning from the influence, when Constantine so ingeniously allowed the crafting and drafting of Christianity into the fold of mystery religions and the call of Isis or Malkhuth. The Elite, carried her forward, as they promised, for their gods to be reborn into the new world. The Fleur-de-lis is Lilith!
