My wife is the only one that can tell me how to drive my tractor. Even then I don’t listen

As an Operating Engineer, I can most definitely tell you and anyone else that cares to read this, that the manner in which you are operating that loader with the bucket at full downward tile/dump position is absolutely one way that you can move material. Depending on how much room you have and how close the spoils are to the empty ditch, you can also drag the material back into the ditch from the opposite side of said ditch.

loose dirt will not break your tractor lol

Don’t listen to anyone, it’s your tractor and do what works for you. I’ll bet half the people commenting never even driven a tractor

I have used a tractor loader/ bobcat this way for 50 years. Never had a problem. Key is: it is not a bulldozer

I have yet seen a perfect heavy equipment operator. After coming upon 40 years daily experience I learn something new about every day.

Been an equipment operator my whole life, it’s not ideal. It does put pressures on pins and cylinders that aren’t great……. But I do it too haha, have for years! As long as it’s fresh loose dirt, your not cutting new ground or old set dirt that’s been piled for a while and like you said take it slow. Smooth slow movements, don’t let the bucket bounce or jerk and you can watch and see if it’s just too much on your tractor. The reason it works so well is that you can see both corners of the bucket as they’re contacting the ground so that you skim the natural surface and don’t gouge the ground! From a long time operator… your doin good!

I need to get my two cents in, negative comments or not.
I don’t know the first thing about operating a tractor. Thank you

Not saying you shouldn't do this but I will say that stating that you've had four of these tractors in just 13 years with less than two thousands hours each doesn't help your argument.

That said, I enjoy your videos

I just wanna say thank you, .I run a Hydraulic repair shop and repair so many customers cylinders from using their front end loaders in this manner. Please by all means keep posting these videos, and keep my pockets padded. You definitely made our Christmas card list!

I have a 30-year-old Ford 1920 with a Great Bend loader. I have used it this way to push and back drag dirt, rock and debree with the bucket and a grapple. Still have the same original cylinders and rock-solid loader. 3900 hard hours on this tractor and still running strong.

You can do that but it is not the best way! As an equipment/AG mechanic for 35 years, i have seen this many times cause damage, you can bend the rods or tear the rod from the piston by running the bucket like that, fully extended .your better off using the bucket flat or slightly angled.Ask a professional operator they will tell you the same thing .

This is exactly what you do to backfill I have operated heavy equipment all my life your dirt moving process is totally fine.

I agree it’s your tractor so use it as you wish. But the fact is you are more likely to bend your cylinder rods/ damage your chrome on the rods with them fully extended. You are being very gentle but if you catch an obstruction damage is possible. Ran heavy equipment most of my adult life and trust me….. some guys could tear up an anvil. 😊 Enjoy my own compact very much.

You're right. People who critique you are just probably mad because they never thought of this first😂 thinking only their ideas are the standard. Great video and very informative.
