DJI Osmo Action 2 LEAKS!

The upcoming new DJI Action 2 (previously "Osmo Action") action camera just leaked its specs and rendered photos - looks really cool! Allegedly, can shoot 4K120, modular design, has tiny size and weight similar to Insta360 ONE R, GO 2, and GoPro Session cube. When do you think release date and price will be? You didn't mention about the bigger sensor size of 1/1.7 of DJI Action 2 versus 1/2.3 of Gopro Hero 10. Bigger sensor size means better quality videos, 4K is more than enough. It's not the resolution of 5K that counts but the bigger sensor size especially for low light situation.

I just found another leak which I can't link. DJI Action 2 will come into 2 versions and it will be officially announced on Oct 27. Not keen on this 'modular session' design, I prefer the old Action 1 design but upgraded with better picture quality and stabilization.

Not a fan of the magnets. I don't like relying on magnets to hold an action camera in place. I prefer something more secure, even if I have to fiddle with it. If they took out the magnets, that would've probably shaved off 10 to 15 grams of weight, making it even better for FPV. Even better, make it able to work without a battery as long as it's plugged (via USB-C). That should get it in Go2 territory. But I am excited to see how it compares to the GP10. Or are they aiming for the Insta360 One R?

If its replacing Insta go 2 and that small and does 4K and have SD card slot, then Im in.
Of course, we need ultra wide FOV like Insta go or GoPro super view.

As an outdoor creator im worried about the 0°C temperature capabilities. Osmo Action was -10°C.

If it has the expandable memory (SD Card) and the shooting of the Insta360 Go 2, i would probably buy it over the GoPro Hero 10, which is quite expensive. Price wise would spend around 300-350.

56g is perfect for fpv.

We just need the stabilization to be good, a wide enough fov, and preferably a replaceable lens/protective glass to make it perfect for freestyle pilots.

I'm not sure how much utility this will have without a replaceable lens, which it doesn't appear to have. I'm sure some people will use it regardless but it'd definitely keep people away.

One possible problem I notice... How do you replace the glass if it breaks, or put on NDs? Hope they didn't pull a GoPro 8!!!

You failed to mention the obvious upgrade: The larger sensor (1/1.7", same as Osmo Pocket 2). Many of us were hoping for that elusive 1" sensor. But still, with the larger sensor/better low-light capabilities, I will wait for this over the GP Hero 10 (still using 1/2.3"), especially if the 4K 120fps is true.

Yeah pretty excited for this one. I’ve got the insta 360 go2 and love it’s small size but hate the storage limitations. Hoping this new camera has the removable SD card slot!

I only want ONE FREAKING THING and yet again, is not gonna happen: A bigger sensor and better IQ. We are stuck in perpetual small sensor time warp forever.. its unbelievable

Honestly. I think the majority of moto vloggers shoot at 2.7k 60fps. Nothing else matters. So a sessions on steroids sounds perfect to me. Plug in a battery pack and off you go.

-GP Hero 8, 9, 10
-Insta360 OneR 4k, OneR 1", Go2
-DJI Osmo Action, Action2

Can’t wait, I’m really in need for an action camera and there’s nothing on the market atm that suits my needs, go2 has bad image quality, action 1 is old and image quality not appealing to me in 2021, go pro 10 seems good but too expensive and Sony x3000 is still awesome if it was only available, so for now there’s nothing I can buy, action 2 might save the day if dji won’t be too greedy

If this is the final design of the Action 2, it looks like it is not intended to be used as a vlogging tool as the previous version. Yes, smartphone cameras have improved, but only in the rear-facing camera(s), not the front-facing camera, which is often ignored for quality improvements.
