Prepper Hacking, TYT UVF1 Dualband Radio Modification.

preview_player
Показать описание
a few older model version TYT UVF1 radios abroad and locally have lockout bands or frequencies. this vid demonstrates a couple of ways to modify or hack this radio to freeband the whole range of frequencies it was designed to do. Modify at your own risk, I'm not responsible for turning your radio into an electric brick.

This vid is for educational purposes only in the radio hobby field.

This link follows the manual setting of the band.

This link talks about the software way of modification.

This link is the programming file setup and dealer password for band modification. trusted link. Compliments by Chaser202.

You're absolutely right.. That step is so ingrained into my skull that I took it for granted and neglected to mentioned it. Between you & me, I have fallen victim for not having a backup.... Thanks for watching.

@stonesharve Yes sir, on all your questions. I actually tried the tone PL search last week and it worked. its slow, but luckily the hams yaked long enough to find the tone. This perticular model is open up for all VHF-UHF US commercial freqs in the conventional mode. Thanks for watching, and take care.

If I remember right, the USB cable has to have the driver installed. When you plug in your USB radio programmer, find out what comm port it is with your windows device manager under ports. Match the port # of the cable plugged in with the setting on your radio software, that should take care of it. your cable plugged in comm port # should match what the radio software is using. Common problem having them mismatch.

Guirella, Did you see my comment about the Scrambler? If not check out the Part 3 about the Scrambler, cuz normally I hear back from you. I think it is of interest.
Another great Vid.

Sorry for the delay in answering, been camping. Press menu then use the arrows to item 19 which will say "SCANS" on top and whatever below it like, "carry" for carrier. which will stop with activity then continue on again when activity stops. "TIME" which will be the time delay you mentioned but its a short duration then automatically continue, whether they stop talking or not, very annoying. finally, "SEEK" which I forgot what it is. I set my radio on "CARRY" then ptt to stop scanning.

@Pyroxster I'll see whats going on this weekend. If I cant find a good link, I might just have to set something up myself. Though it will take some time, I'm really busy with too much projects.

Sorry it took awhile to get back with an answer. I checked my cable to see if it was a strait wire, but its not. The plug portion seem to have a circuit inside to convert USB to serial data. I dont have enough knowledge to replicate it. Perhaps there might be another source of info that will have a diagram for Serial port com1, 9 pin connector to connector jacks of the radio. I did not find a reliable source of information about making one.

@ThePauperPrepper I remember the comment, I guess I didn't have an opinion about it at that time. It doesnt surprise me the gubment caught on to the scrambler feature. I havent seen any news or notices about blocking the scrambler, but I bet it will happen. I'm thinking because its certified as a FCC part 90 radio the feature is still legal to sell because law enforcement are the only ones who will have approval to use it. the other services, Part 95, part 97, is not permitted at all.

I have 2 of these radios and 1 will go to 2.5khz steps the other does not is there a firmware or programming hack to mod the steps increments. Also is there a way to clone one radios parameters to the other. I believe I have uvf1 and a uvf1a and the steps are the only difference that I can see. Otherwise there great.

@franquivictor I'm getting pretty good performance out of a dual band flexible slim jim antenna at;
2wayelectronix (DOT COM) /Portable-Antennas_c3.htm
Inexpensive and it outperforms alot of the commercial grade antennas out there. Soon, when I get the time I will review it in detail. So far, this is the route I'm going to take. Thanks for watching
