Earl of Oxford's Case in Chancery (Equity prevails over the common law)

In this equity law case, which is one of the foundational cases of our entire system of law, the Lord Chancellor stood his ground against Sir Edward Coke, and the King had to resolve which body of law wins, if equity is in a clash with the common law. Here we are, more than 400 years later, and our legal system is still fundamentally shaped by this case.

This is great content to watch, particularly so when I find the judgments too difficult to read, understand or simply too long. It makes the crux of an issue that I am studying at law school, become much clearer and easier to understand.

Thank you!
