Did you download and install the latest firmware from the manufacturer? That is the best way to be sure the computer can perform as well as possible and might fix the issue with the front usb-c port and memory heating issues. The Ryzen 7940 & 7840 CPUs should start showing up in mini PC's this month. Those PC's will have the Radeon 780m graphics, which gives you about 10fps increase in performance over the 680m.

I got the SER 6 Pro, the cable made a difference: I had one from CableMatters TB3 cable that I used on my old NUC to connect an eGPU, that cable did not work with the SER 6 Pro. However, I tried a new Belkin USB4/TB4 cable (same length as my TB3 cable) and this one worked on the first attempt.

I'm leaning towards the SER6 Pro right now. The M.2 heatsink on the UM773 just vents into the case with no air going over it, while the SER6 Pro does cool the M.2 drive.

I have the 773 and I've put an ssd in it, you should of had an adapter in the box.

the USB4 to hub problem could be a problem of AMD implementation of Intel's Thunderbolt protocol.

When you say you couldn’t get the Beelink USB4 port to work, do you mean that the port is not recognized at all, or you couldn’t get it to work as a USB version 4 port?

I think your usb4 hub won't be recognized because you are trying to feed power though the hub to the pc. The manual of minisforum um773 states that the usb4 port can output 5V3A but no word about power input. (Normally with a laptop you have to disconnect the powerbrick when you want to feed power over thunderbolt 3.)
ps. the um773 can actually take a 2.5" sata ssd.
(the new um790 supports 2 nvme ssd's with changed cooling solution and faster ram. Guess I have been a month too early...)
