If my chemistry teacher and physics teacher was this chill and loving what they do I would have done so muchhh better. Unfortunately I failed chemistry due to the fact that the guy could beat us. Education in Africa need reevaluation.

Newton's first law . An object which is stationary will forever be stationary unless an outside force is applied. In this case force was applied to the ring only. But not the pen. That's why the pen fell.

grabbing the ring on the side made the ring collapse into an oval, the pen only experienced the downward change therefore it never got pulled to the side

Inertia of rest.
The pen was at rest on the ring, and it tried to be at rest even after you removed the ring.

Free falling, which is acceleration due to gravity

Because pens always end up in the worst place. That's Murphy's law.

Inertia. The marker fell because of gravity and into the glass. When you pulled the ring of metal fast the marker stayed in the same position ( like how magicians pull of the table cloff fast without dropping the stuff on it) so marker was basically floating then the force of gravity acted upon it and made it drop.
I'm I right?

Explain why? Honestly no one truly knows. There are those that have great theories… but they don’t actually know.

That was a little awkward for me to watch, the science was great, the jumping around was too jittery, long and too much, almost convulsion inducing. It would have been spectacular if you had displayed the set up ready under a pool of light surrounded by darkness and you pirouette your way into the light, dressed in black spandex, and just knock it into action and tip toe away, . Could even keep the music but don't talk.
