“I forgot to swatch the pencil.

I'm relieved to see that every artist ist sometimes.
Someone told me that you should never ever post your fails, because it will be bad. For me that's not the way. Seeing that everyone fails sometimes is more couraging and motivating to keep on.

To be honest, this video has probably helped your viewers see your more “imperfect” side. It shows that even the best of us have hard days. Lots of love and kudos on not giving up. :, )

Honestly I love the last piece! I really enjoy when a more realistic/sculpted subject is mixed with abstract shapes and textures 💞

I'm glad I'm not the only one who goes through those days where I hate everything and have to walk away from the art supplies!

Ps. All the nose boops to Sally!

I Think it makes us see more professional artists as human and more easy to relate to when we see them struggle. To know that it's not because we're a bad artist but because we're human that we're struggling. I Think your last portrait was pretty cool actually but I understand that when you're looking at something abstract as a more detailed painter it's easier to criticise yourself but honestly I think it was really cool.

I like that fact you showed the art you weren’t satisfied with, it shows that we are all human. Also, your art that you didn’t like doesn’t mean everyone will think like that, I didn’t. It shows that experimenting will not always come out the way you want but learning from it is what we should take away from it. In the process, you could learn a new way to make art and actually enjoy it lol

I just want to say that I LOVE that you posted this video! As a beginner, trying to learn how to 'art', figure out all new art supplies and find your own style it can often be so discouraging to see piece after piece of incredible art and not see the struggle or work that went into that piece, especially as you say, on social media where people don't post the 10 bad pieces that it took to get that one spectacular piece.

It can feel like everyone else just puts pencil/paintbrush/marker to paper and beautiful art appears in an instant while when you try to draw the most basic, generic face for example, it ends up looking like the elephant man's ugly cousin.
It is genuinely such a relief to see that even someone as talented an artist as yourself has days where nothing goes right and all the art (in their opinion) looks terrible. It is a reminder to those of us at the earlier stages of our artistic journey that art is a process which you never stop learning and that's one of the beautiful things about art.

I also think that the fact that you didn't give up, that you persevered is really inspiring. You were clearly having a really rough art day and have been working so hard recently and it would have been the easiest thing in the world to just scrap the whole video. Part of the reason you did push through it may have been that it's your job (although there is a fine line between working hard and overworked - please take care of yourself first, we will always prefer no video to you stressing yourself into burnout) but I think it also had a mental aspect to it. Yes it was tough and you felt like giving up so many times but had you done so it could have knocked your confidence in your artistic ability and created more stress/bad art cycles in your future work. How much better does it feel knowing that you didn't give up? While you may not feel able to be proud of the art you created today, you can absolutely be proud of the fact that you stuck it out, worked through it and ended up making something complete instead of giving up!

Personally, I have done nothing with this box, or the one before with the liquid graphite paints, except swatches so you have inspired me with this video to go back and have a proper play around with some of the more neglected Scrawlrbox items! 😊
Oh, and I actually really love the final portrait you did (the one you kept) - it's such a unique piece and seeing it created (especially alongside all of the struggles for that piece and the ones prior to it) was fascinating to watch!
So thank you, for having the courage to share your artistic process, and progress, even when you dislike the outcome of said process. You rock! 😎🤘🏻

I know it's hard to share when you're feeling frustrated, but I'm really glad you're showing your vulnerabilities and talking openly about the mental struggles of being an artist. I think it's very helpful for your subscribers to hear the truth like this, so that they know they're not alone, and others go through this, too. ♥

it is so refreshing to hear someone talk about their 'bad' art. I don't know about anyone else, but it really helps me when I have my own bad days, as i know others go through it too.

I honestly really like how the piece with the girl turned out and I think this style has sooo much potential

Thanks for showing the "bad" side of creating as well !

Keep up the beautiful work!

I really love how you share these experiences with us. Most art YouTube's don't, which makes us feel life their art is perfect all the time and they never struggle, but they really do! We needed this. Thank you Mary.

I appreciate it when artists show their not so great days - makes me feel more optimistic about my art fails. Keep sharing.

it’s a bit evil that they didn’t include a white :( it seems crazy hard to make a good piece without white with acrylics!

Sometimes I wish there was a place where artists can upload their art block doodles, no matter how unfinished or horrible. No comments allowed, no likes to be farmed, just a place where people can go and see that they are not alone.

That blue face was actually really cool looking.

I think a lot of times when you don't like something you created it can be more that it's just not to your tastes. Which is also fine. I enjoyed these pieces. And it's comforting to see how you adapt to art challenges. Gives me hope!

Love seeing professionals being vulnerable and sharing their “fails” with is. You’re human too!!
Love this last one. Though it’s not exactly my style (or yours) there’s just something sophisticated and “artsy” about it that I would never be able to achieve. Great job for not giving up!

I actually find it really interesting seeing this sort of videos too. That artists, who are making so wonderful work, are struggling too. And it's not because it's fun to see people struggle, but its more of a "oh so someone as good as her has problems too, well maybe I'm not THAT bad then." I really appreciate it, that you uploaded the vid!
