One of my favorites! I love the dancing and how nice the girls all dress. The days when we were all still considerate of eachother.

I saw this in 1955 with my mother when I was six years old. I vividly remember Leslie Caron saying "Today, we speak only English, " and mom whispering to me that "boo-belly gum" was bubble gum. Amazing how we can forget so many movies we saw decades ago, but remember others with clarity due to a scrap of dialogue. I think this was Leslie Caron's last dancing performance on screen. Thank you so much for posting this movie! That was a lovely afternoon with my mom at the Studio City Theater when it was still a cinema.

Wow! Astaire was born in 1899, so he was 56 when DLL was made in 1955. Guess dance keeps you young!

This movie was not a huge hit when it first came out in 1955 but has since became a cult hit that has aged like fine wine. It is severely underrated and has become my all time favourite Fred Astaire movie.

Leslie Caron, one of the most underrated beauries of all time. Her dancing is top tier and she delivers a performance that belies her youth and inexperience. She comes off as a seasoned professional actress. Leslie is a demure, charming and very graceful woman. Simply wonderful!

I am glad that someone has finally uploaded a good quality version of this here! ...on the other hand... it made me like the movie a bit less, because now, with the clear pictures, one could see how OLD Fred Astaire was there. And he looked older than his real age, to that (in his face). The girl was also a little too old, no orphanage or college girl anymore. One could also question, how an orphanage girl could have learnt to dance such exotic dances... and so well. But it is still a very beautiful film, and especially for everybody who loves dancing scenes!

Speaking as a young woman who does like older men quite a lot, I too would have gone for Fred Astaire in the 50s. Come on, he was so extremely charming. Plus, this is just a movie.

Thank you for posting this. And thank you to all the artists that contributed: the costumes, sets, the choreography, the lighting, photography, the music, lyrics, acting, dancing, singing, writing, directing, the talent that put this together for us, all these years later. I feel lucky.
