I have read that in England & many European countries hundreds of years ago a person's last name was connected to their profession/job so part of this sort of makes sense. Here are a few examples of Surnames & the jobs they held. Fletcher was a person who made arrows, Ward was a guard or watchman, Sexton was the person who watched the cemetery, Cooper was a person who made or repaired wooden casks or barrels, Smith was a blacksmith, Smith was also a name that meant worker, Wright was a wood worker, Marshall was a keeper of Horses, Kemp was an athlete, Thatcher was a roofer, Tillman & Tyler were roof tilers, Travers & Travis were toll bridge collectors, Wainwright & Wayne were wheel makers, Coleman & Collier were coal miners. I bet you can guess what many occupations a person's ancestors may have been just by hearing their last name now. Certain Surnames are very obvious while others may not be. Names such as Brewer, Baker, Archer, Hunter, Fisher, Mason, Tanner, Weaver, etc... are all easy examples.
It usually only takes me once or twice of saying the person's name to remember it. I use other ways to remember their name such as remembering other people I already know with the same name or maybe I can pick out something relative to that individual that works as well whenever possible. I also carry a notebook around with me for various reasons, journaling, keeping notes at work or about hobbies, etc... so I will usually write down a person's name when I first met them the first chance I get which usually helps as well.

Wow. A video that gets straight to the point, and then gets done before we've forgotten it. A rarity these days. Thank you Val Or Ian for the Video.

The Baker picture you showed was good to remember his name for 5 minutes but when you went around the room/event and got introduced to 20 more people, you then lose the steam. Typically, when I see him next wearing the chef hat, I will think, " What is his name? Chef, breadmaker, cook, cooker, toaster, &^%&^*%^&%^ sorry, I forgot your name again... I am pretty bad with names?"

So true, but finding in the moment an image to match is hard. I would like to see someone create an image and names to match app. Is there one already?

This is just superb, I have been researching "learning how to memorize" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Yiyevi Ponevi Approach - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my colleague got cool success with it.
