Today, I'll talk a little bit about one of the biggest cutlery news stories of the year, and talk about my hopes for how GSM could continue working with the brand.

I do not consider myself a "Cold Steel" guy, but I will miss Cold Steel as I currently know it.

I remember when Remington was bought by the Freedom Group. That did not end well.

Lynn sticking a Cold Steel through a car hood was always a selling point to me..

You're a gentleman, Mr. Shabazz. Keepin' it positive, that's the way to do it!

First 'good' knife I ever bought was a Cold Steel Tanto. Back in the day when the only place you'd see their advertisements was in Soldier of Fortune.

Let's hope GSM does maintain the quality and the staff. Lynn said on his YouTube channel that's he and Andrew aren't going anywhere, but he didn't mention his employees.

I started amused by cold steel products and over the years, I've come to respect them quite a bit.

I am saddened to hear this news, as Cold steel is one of my favorite companies period.

The new GSM-CS social media team has been asking fans what they like to see return to CS’s current lineup, so there is some hope left. But I just hope it’s not a Pet Semetary type of return.

As I look over all my Cold Steel knives, spears, tomahawks, shovels, blowguns and sword canes I’ve bought over the years. A tear comes to my eye as I imagine all the recreational jackassing that might be coming to an end for many young men. They may never get to jackass as I have jackassed.

If they lose the tri-ad, I'm out. I love that lock, simple and solid.

Glaces over at my cold steel throwing shovel, agrees with "recreational jackassing". 🤣🤣🤣

I recommend Cold Steel all the time for someone who wants an affordable hard use knife. Hope they keep making them just as strong.

Still have a CS Voyager tanto i bought in 2000 carried it through my military career. The thumb studs fell off somewhere and the clip broke when I attached it to my body armor and tried to squeeze between two Bradley Fighting Vehicles (we were taking mortar fire). In spite of that, and all the other abuse an infantryman can subject equipment to, it is a drop shut finger guillotine to this day. It does need a spa day though tbh.

I love Cold Steel--particularly their durable, basic, reasonably-priced stuff. I have several Finn Wolf folders that I rotate through regularly. No frills and built like a tank. I have some of their "silly" knives too, such as the massive Hold Out. They are often ridiculed by "proper" historical martial artists for their reproduction historical items, but their rendition of a traditional dirk is quite good, and their baskethilt broadsword is heavy but definitely OK. I don't want them to change as they are the blue collar answer to a knife (and sword) industry that sometimes takes itself a bit too seriously.

Besides, where else are you going to find a guy hacking at a hog carcass with a saber or stabbing a car hood with a tanto?

As someone that owns many BM, ZT, and Spyderco, I’ve tried out the AD-10 and fell in love. Now I own it and after hearing the news, bought a 4 Max Scout also. You’ve gotta love a folding fixed blade knife.

4 years ago I found a Cold Steel 4” Ti-Lite while fishing. It’s been my fishing/work/carry knife ever since

I'm a roofer and I carry a clip point Voyager. Should I use a pocket knife to open a can of soup? No, but I can't justify throwing a can opener in my bag. I CAN justify carrying an extremely robust pocket knife whenever I'm not wearing pajamas though. It's my nail cleaner, sandwich cutter, splinter scraper, sticker puller, soup opener, tie cutter, etc. It works and I just haven't managed to kill it in the last 5 years of misuse I've been subjecting it to.

Cold Steel, where Demko is king and Thompson is jester. And that is how it should be.

To me, a selling point would be to revamp classics like The Recon 1 folders(and other) with less grippy G10 that don't rip up the pockets, deep pocket clips and the continuation of The Triad Locks.
