These are the steps to use our Rangate Knot Filler correctly:

1. Choose a Rangate Knot Filler rod. Cross-reference the rod to its melting temperature, to which the heat gun’s temperature knob should adjust.*
2. Plug the heat gun into a surge protector** which plugs into an AC outlet. Switch on the power.
3. Allow the heat gun to heat up for about 3 to 5 minutes.
4. Always test on a spare piece of wood first to practice and ensure the outcome matches the
project’s expectations. Always apply filler on a flat and stable working surface.
5. When the heat gun is fully heated, pull the trigger slowly until the melted filler begins to flow
out of the nozzle. Release the trigger to stop the knot filler flow.***
6. Apply the melted filler into the void area with a slight excess volume above the void.
7. Apply an aluminum block (heat sink) on the void quickly with packing force. Leave and do not
move the block for about 60 seconds. It may take longer if the void is deeper than 1/8”.
8. When done using the heat gun, switch off the power. Wait until the heat gun is completely
cooled before storing away. Pull the plug instead of pulling the cord.
9. Seal unused rods in an airtight polybag (not provided) to prolong their longevity. For daily and weekly use, a rod can be left inside the heat gun.
