I was saved in 1983, and my Christian walk and growth (or lack thereof in some cases), stemmed from being in a, what was coined as a "Holiness type" Church. Where the rigors of rules and doctrinal regulations were the norm. Dress codes were strictly followed and the music was taken out of the hymnal books. We did have Choirs and much of their genre's stayed within the boundaries of what was considered an accepted as GOSPEL MUSIC. Much of it was very inspiring but a lot of it was ethnically based and driven. Now for whatever reason the Lord would have had me in that type of Church environment was and is his prerogative and will for my life at that time! But today, after knowing who Jesus really is, and understanding what Grace really is, I'm so fortunate to have moved on and now, experiencing a generation of young people praising God, especially in worship songs the way I know that touches the heart of the Lord. There was a time that I would have rebuked this because it didn't line up with my religious beliefs or thinking. But praise God, the veil's been lifted and I'm so inspired by these young souls who are truly gifted and using those gifts for the Glory of God. In some ways I'm a little disappointed that this didn't exist during my younger days in the Church. But Gods timing is perfect and he alone knows when to manifest his plans. I get truly irked in my spirit when I hear other Christians, mainly the older ones, criticizing this music and the churches they worship and praise him! God deserves our best and when we are in the position to give him that, then we give it and give gladly because NOTHIN can be given to even the score on the cross! And that's what this young man is pouring out in his soul through this beautiful song, that is Holy Ghost inspired!
