It's always amazing to me how much MJ had to deal with physically in his life.
- Pepsi burn
- Lupus
- Vitiligo
- reconstruction scalp surgery over many years
- long term pain medication use as a result of the burn and subsequent surgeries
- nose surgery complications
All of it, he bore and hid as well he could from the public so we could focus on his music and performances. Yet at every turn the worst was thought of him by many and especially the press. He might be coping ok with his pain one day but there was always someone there to poke fun and ridicule. The man really must've had rhinoceros skin to deal with it all.

His father had a lot to answer for in terms of physically and mentally scarring him and making him believe he was ugly and that his features needed to be ‘fixed’ somehow. I believe the majority of his feelings of inadequacy towards his own appearance stem from how Joe bullied him in his early years into young adulthood.

By seeing this side by side comparison of the different eras, it's shocking to see everything he went through. Sometimes I feel bad for him, and wish life (and people) would've been easier on him. Maybe if he hadn't had the Pepsi accident, or the media hadn't been that toxic to him, he wouldn't have had so many insecurities nor become addicted to painkillers. Maybe he would've even made his vitiligo public and embraced it. I truly believe that he was born ahead of his time and suffered the consecuences. People would be accepting and supportive today with so many things that made his life impossible. It breaks my heart.

Apparently, Michael compensated for the lack of a normal childhood by helping other people. Instead of anger and cruelty, after being raised from a tyrant and a stolen childhood, he became the kindest person. It is commendable. I deeply respect Michael Jackson

He did appeared older and drained in 2005-2009, he did not look the same, it's hard to even eat when people try to destroy you, with false allegations, going to court, fighting for your life. I think that's him starving himself due to stress, and he never recovered afterwards. It's a very sad topic, but I think the trial really destroyed him and it really dragged; it wasn't plastic surgery, personally I think he strayed away from that...

I've never clicked on a notification so fast. First, sorry for my English, I'm from Poland and I'm not very good at other languages.

I didn't expect there would EVER be a movie about this, because for years I felt like I was the only one who saw it. And I've been his fan since 2005 (I was 8 years old, haha) and I've been analyzing his appearance very carefully over the years. A lot of people focused on his nose and said, "That nose ruined his look." I never agreed with that, because in fact, since 1986, the appearance of his nose has hardly changed, and his appearance has changed with his smile, because appearance largely depends on facial expressions. I noticed that the last time his famous smile appeared was 1998. In 1999 something was already wrong, but in 2001 the difference was most noticeable. I'm most inclined to believe that there was some kind of nerve damage that paralyzed his upper lip. I have a feeling that in the last years of his life he managed to fix it a bit somehow, because between 2006 and 2009 he was much more likely to be able to expose his upper teeth more when smiling.

He was a musical genius, but life and nature did not treat him lightly. Vitiligo, lupus, his father teasing him, the Pepsi accident...these all left their mark on him and certainly influenced his decisions, although I believe that the change in his smile was something of an accident, not a conscious and planned decision. Still, it doesn't change the fact that I still love watching him on stage. Despite the changes in his facial expressions, his 2001 performance is stunning to me.
