13 year old Japanese skateboarder Nishiya Momiji became Olympic champion at Tokyo 2020 in the women's street. She won the first ever gold medal in the women's street competition. Momiji is the youngest athlete ever to win a gold medal for Japan, and the third youngest after Marjorie Gestring and Klaus Zerta to ever win an event at the Summer Olympics.

this is going to be a very unpopular comment but i find it interesting how far back women's skateboarding is compared to men's as far as the technicality of tricks. it's not like men really have a physical advantage when it comes to skateboarding like in other sports.

Her second in the best trick portion seemed more impressive than the first to me. She did that big spin board slide in every one of her runs, but at only 13 to go over the one rail and basically come in blind for the lip slide is just crazy. 2:34

She scored a bit worse than her first trick but I'll take the second trick just because how nuts it seems.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks mid asf? These look like really basic moves, they aren't exciting to me. Women's skateboarding ain't my sport.
