Multiple Gateway Church elders have been removed after an outside investigation into what they knew about sexual abuse allegations against founder Robert Morris.

I appreciate what the elder was saying about the danger of having a culture where the power and focus is centralized around 1 man, but then why rush to bring in another high profile celebrity pastor like Max Lucado to teach? It seems a little counterintuitive.

Organised religion is fundamentally about power and control, and in the case of many churches. money. SA, and CSA, are not about gratification, they are also about power and control. So no one should be surprised the 2 go hand in glove.
That's why we see this behaviour repeated around the world, no matter what the religion or denomination.
It's also why, when church elders uncover the behaviour, they look to protect the organisation not the victim(s). They are looking to defend the power, control and wealth of the organisation.
The only solution is to sue them into bankruptcy.

Do you remember the football player in England that was accused of rape a few years ago? His supporters and club wanted him to keep on playing and did not care about the allegations. The sin of this world: "Celebrities!" Yes, we honor celebrities and allow them to do what they want because we don't care. They can lie to use, women singers can dance naked on stage or in videos, they can sing about sex and rape and that is OK. Those complaining are just getting abused and told off by the media and others.
The charismatic churches do the same: We honor our pastors and want to be seen as church members, bragging with family and friends, rather than bragging about God! That is why those church members and those who did nothing. They were afraid of getting fired, maybe afraid of the news and what it will do to the church, and personal reasons as MOST of us would have. So don't blame them for doing what you would have done. Pray for those involved and make sure you stop making celebrities "gods" and start to honor God, our Savior.

No, no. If pastor Robert Morris repented of his sin(s) (I'm sure he did), then he does not need to resign and congregation should forgive him (Joh 8:7) and nobody leaves the church because of the scandal. Does anyone go to church because of its pastor, elder, deacon, or anyone? True worshippers want to worship GOD Jehovah in spirit and in truth (Joh 4:24), don't they? Once forgiven, GOD would not remember his sins (Heb 8:12, 10:17). Church is spiritual and has different standard than secular organization. Remember 1Cor chapter 5 about that incestuous man in the Corinthian church? Apostle Paul told the church to put him away first (1Cor 5:13) but then to forgive him (2Cor 2:7) "lest Satan should get an advantage of us." Satan wants more true, evangelical church to fail. Paster Morris, come back to your ministry ASAP to defeat Satan.
