Why Teslas Accelerate So Fast

Tesla's cars are some of the most impressive electric cars available today. Tesla not only broke the range barrier for EVs, it also improved the performance of an electric car considerably. Even though electric motors are inherently quick, the Model S Performance seamlessly blends software and engineering to deliver that power to the wheels more efficiently than any other production car.

Whoever made this video doesn’t actually know what power density is

This video has so many flaws. Here's a few: The batrery size measured in kWh is not the energy density of the battery! It is the amount of energy the battery can store aka capacity. Power density is also irrelevant for the performance of the car, it's the overall power of the battery that's important. For example a phone battery has pretty much the same energy density and power density as a electric car battery, but it's power and energy are obviously not the same. And efficiency does not affect the power the car produces at the wheel so it's not a factor. The only two reasons electric cars accelerate so fast is A: instant torque and B: precise torque vectoring.

I can’t want wait for the roadster to come out and absolutely wreck all the drag strips

As a mechanical engineer this video is really under researched

Is this a joke?
So many lies in here.
Power density, power of the motor, battery capacity are totally different things.

I’m about to save you 5 minutes.
Cars have these things called “torque” it pushes the car forward. Electric cars push out all their torques the second you accelerate.

The last time I was this early, people still said electric cars were impossible.

4:09 122 Degree??? No explaination about temperature unit? Since people around the globe using different temperature unit.

They are electric vehicles so they have instant torque. That's the answer.

Because every Tesla tries to reach Mars.

A very important point missed by the video is electronic control systems. Traction control (not stability control) can work way more precisely with electric motors, changing torque multiple hundred to thousands of times per second. This just isn't possible with internal combustion engines on that degree. Especially when launching from a standstill traction control plays a major role in limiting slip and using the traction from the tires the most efficient way possible. Without traction control systems most electrical vehicles (even with much lower torque numbers) would almost instantly loose traction especially on the front axle making those 0-60 times almost impossible.

Its very rare seeing business insider talking something positive about tesla and evs

The amount of ppl in this comment section that dont know shit about cars but commenting some strongly worded stuff is entertaining to look at

AWD, instant torque from electric motors. Don't need a whole vid.
