this really is helpful, you know being sure what you want exactly. it’s a luxury that most european countries are affordable, so we don’t have to worry *as* much

Being sure is so important. Even if you have to take a year off, be sure what you want. I'm doing computer science and while I enjoy it, I'm not 100% sure that it's completely what I want, but I also don't know what else I would do in the future. And I can't afford to change out of it now, even though I'm only a year in. Being sure is pretty important haha

This is so me 😭. I stayed in college too long switching majors. I was a bio major for about 2 years thinking it was best for me because my parents wanted me to do it but I was miserable in those classes. I switched around for a bit until I just picked something so that I could get out of college cuz i felt like time was passing me by and I felt hopeless. Be sure what YOU want to do kids.

just a tip, if you don’t know what you wanna do or major in, do not go to uni. go for gen ed at a community college and save yourself a lot of money until you figure it out and then transfer your credits and go to uni if you want.

The epitome of “go to college because that’s what everyone else is doing”

I basically wasted 5 years of higher studies here in Belgium, I didn’t get the bachelors degree in the end. But a debt of 40k $ before starting to work, that’s insane

"it means I get to get out of here as soon as I can"
"I'm a 5th year, I've been here too long."
🤦🏻‍♀️ This is painful to witness.

I feel this! I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do and changed my major 3 times. Caused me to be in school for years longer than I should have!

I'm lucky my parents are okay with community College. I can change my major and take as many fun classes I want with no debt 😔

Videos like these reassure me that I’m making the right choice going to community college for free cause I have no idea what I want to do

I can completely relate to this. I just got accepted in my schools nursing program. By the time I’m completely finished with an bachelors degree, I would be in school for a total of 7 years. I wanted to give up every semester but I kept telling myself “since I made it this far I might as well keep going” definitely burning a huge hole in my wallet, so I’m praying everything works out financially in the future.

I wish someone told me that you would be punished financially for taking extra classes just because you wanted to learn a specific subject. You basically have to only take classes from your major, because once you reach a certain “credit amount” you’re considered out of state.

That really blows my mind... Even today when the information is relatively free..still Universities are able to pull this off

This is exactly why I didn’t go straight to college. Several of my really good friends went to fairly prestigious schools, arrived and when they realized they were truly on their own for the first time in their lives, started partying and putting minimum (often zero) effort into their studies. They didn’t figure out what they wanted to focus on and spent ~70k a year of their parents money, only to return with a general education they could have gotten in a community college.

Education about the education system needs to be promoted and made more blunt for high school kids.

Remember intelligence versus education is two different things most people on a campus are not very intelligent trust me

I feel for this guy, I was stopped from going to uni because of covid. Instead I got my NASM personal trainer certification and went straight to work at 18 years old. If you don’t know what you want to do go to community college or start working. Going into debt without having money is a horrible idea.
