Glad to have had my SPAN panel installed here in Connecticut back in November of 2022 shortly moving in to my 33 year old home, removing gas, and going all electric. I'm very pleased with the work my electrician did, and I'm so glad this product exists! The rich Stats views have been a huge help in troubleshooting some challenges my HVAC crew is currently working through. Now I'm one big step closer to being ready for solar and battery backup.

We're professional engineers in South Africa doing many solar installations. We really need this product in Southern Africa to enhance our systems. Our grid electricity availability factor has dropped to 55% so many homes and businesses are going to 'off-grid'. DB control is always a limiting factor.

This all sounds great, but I got a quote from a SPAN provided installer for over $17K to replace my existing, overcrowded circuit breaker panel. In comparison, I got a quote of $2K to install a new, conventional load center. This is insane! Who can afford to pay close to $20K for their home service panel? I would never recoup the cost even with time of use power consumption. I would rather spend $20K on additional LFP batteries. That way you don’t need to play around with programming backup circuits.

Looks like it just used a seimens qp breaker system. They don't even use proprietary breakers. Uses breakers for a $200 panel.

Unfortunately SPAN have absolutely trash policies wrt to allowing access to the device and having the device reflect new circuits. You have to call them and/or have your electrician call them to get the panel to reflect that a circuit exists. This is asinine as it's purely an app thing at that point. It doesn't block the functionality of the circuit in the house only the the ability to see the power draw and or actuate (turn it on/off) from the app. The devices have open SSH ports but SPAN refuses to vend the creds. They are gatekeeping the wrong type of people here. Given their cost and this arbitrary lack of openness for the very people spending that cash, I'd recommend everyone stay well and truly far far away from these jerks.
