Gopher Bait 50 with strychnine from Control Solutions Inc is an excellent bait for gophers. Strychnine is the fastest and most effective poison on the market but is very hazardous. Gopher Bait 50 is for subsoil application in pocket gopher burrows so non target animals are not exposed. Gopher Bait 50 is not safe around pets and children. Applicators must use gloves and a particulate respirator when applying. Do not use above ground. Place gopher bait in pocket gopher burrows only.

Target pests: Gopher Bait 50 is only allowed to be used to control and kill pocket gophers or geomys spp, thomomys spp, and pappogeomys spp.

For use in: Gopher bait 50 can only be used in subsoil burrow applications. This means it must be put directly into the burrow of pocket gophers and cannot be scattered on the surface of the ground.

Application: To apply Gopher bait 50 find the pocket gopher burrow by plunging a metal rod into the ground. When the rod moves much easier you have found a burrow tunnel. Apply 1 teaspoon of bait in the tunnel and cover back with dirt so as to leave the tunnel undisturbed. When the pocket gophers eat the bait they will die within 3-4 hours. Applications of gopher bait 50 should be made every 100 feet to ensure proper coverage.

Coverage Area: 1 pound of gopher bait 50 will treat 1 to 8 acres of property for pocket gophers depending on infestation levels.

Shelf Life: Gopher bait 50 has a shelf life of 3-4 years if kept in a cool dry environment. Once opened gopher bait 50 should be used within 2 years.

Time to Kill: Gopher Bait 50 will kill gophers withing a few hours after they eat it.

Since strychnine is bitter why would the gopher eat more than the first grain that releases the bitter flavor? I am not sure they are eating the grain.

I live in Corpus Christi Texas. I have sandy soil. There is gophers all over this place.
I've tried this and continue to use it but, I don't think they will eat it.
I know what happens when you get them because I trap them- they stop making mounds.
With this stuff, the mound building continues.
I think I need to try a different type of bait.

Trust me even you cover the tunnel with dirt and it closes the tunnel, they will still dig it again especially if it is a main tunnel.

I've used this product and in most fields it seems the gophers aren't getting it. It's very frustrating. I want them dead. Ive dug out the lateral to expose the main going 2 ways and deposit bait (1tsp) per side and cover up the area I dug out. Or I probe further away. It's so frustrating
