The one in the thumbnail is actually Scrapnik Mecha Sonic MK2. Metal Sonic, Mecha Sonic MK1 (from sonic 2 for Genesis), Mecha Sonic MK0 (from sonic 2 for Game Gear) and Mecha Sonic MK2 (from sonic 3) are completely different robots.

Scrapnik Mecha MK2 is from the IDW Comics. A destroyed version of Mecha MK2, reformed and now a good guy who sometimes turns back to his original programing and goes crazy. The cool thing is that this was his first appearance in a piece of media in 28 years.

Super Neo Metal Sonic is the one on the video. Neo Metal is the upgraded form of Metal Sonic that appeared in Sonic Heroes, he is able to copy powers and data from stuff. Neo Metal appeared again in the IDW Comics, he is the antagonist of the first arc. At one point he steals the Master Emerald and transforms into Super Neo Metal, a reference to how Mecha Sonic transformed into Super Mecha Sonic in Sonic 3 by using the master emerald.

Yes, Sonic is a very weird franchise.
