Water injection for a hot and/or heavy take off : water is injected directly into the combustion chamber via a combined water and fuel nozzle. The water cools the flame temperature (not the incoming air temperature) thus reducing the turbine inlet temperature. More fuel can be then be added until the engine TIT limit is reached. The increased mass flow through the engine results in the increased power(higher EPR setting).
