Literally one of the most common problems for rx8s are complete engine failure, no thank you

Absolutely love my 8th gen. Not a whole lot of power but it’s so fun to push the limit without worrying about breaking anything

Don't sleep on a Toyota crown. Especially the 90s ones came with a 1JZ and you could get a wagon variant. I reckon there's a lot of sleeper potential there.

Mitsubishi 3000GT for me. If you do a bit of looking you will find fully functional models for dirt cheap. Found a fully functional low mileage model with pop-ups for 5k$, only thing bad with it was it required a paint job and new front active aero. Someone snagged it before I could though.

10k for any of these cars is crazy. The used car market is bonkers. There a 911 996 for sale atm with a hole in the bottom end of the engine for 12k ...

Si's really are some of the best cars ever built. Have 8th and 9th gen Si coupes. Bought them both new and kept them for some mild tuning. The 8th is a three ring circus of high revving fun. Its a blast to drive but the power is all on the top shelf. The 9th gen K24 is more fun to daily and more practical. A little tuning to start the vtec cross over sooner, a good intake, full catless exhaust, and you have some real usable torque down in the mid range. Same manufacturer. Same model and they are two very, very different cars to drive. For what its worth the suspension on the 9th gen was easier to tune and it always feels more connected. When the 8th lets go its always a jump scare/surprise. A lot harder to predict when its at the edge of tying itself in a knot. Both have short shifters and the gear box on the 9th is more "positive feeling" even after new cables and a cylinder swap to a tuned in the 8th. I have an 11th gen Si now and its just not the same car any longer. Still fun. Still reliable. It just is so big feeling. Like an accord in a dress three sizes too small. A new base map woke it up but it just never feels "spritely" like my earlier ones.

I just got a 1999 GS300 with 115k miles on it, for $6700 out the door! There’s newer models with slightly higher miles for closer to 10k but if you look around you’ll find a good one

I drove my cousins rx8 for almost a week when he traded it in at the dealership I worked at. Fun car…even got the rear to step out on me when I tried to take off at a light.

I love my 8th gen civic, though not an Si, it’s an EX sedan. She’s still insanely fun to run around corners with high rpm. It has 333100+ miles now and still mostly factory parts, engine’s the same as it came from the factory with and works perfectly!
