I worked with Air Marshal Nambiar Sir. Then, he was a Wing Commander and posted to Gwalior. He was SFS&IO (Senior Flight Safety and Intelligence Officer) and Commanding Officer of MOF (Mobile Observation Flight). Being a fighter pilot and of the rank of Wg Cdr, he might be a CO of one of the fighter squadrons but I unfortunately forgotten. He was a very cool officer and never ever rebuke any airmen working with him in BHCT (Bird Hazard Combat Team) during his stay (I think it was fagend of 1997 to till my posting in 1998). Wg Cdr Nambiar Sir used to talk very less. During Kargil war, he used to come in BHCT office as it was near to COO office. Once he told us a Kargil story. It goes like that: after boombing to warfront he was flying towards base. He saw a missile was following his fighter. He do all necessary actions to escape but the missile kept on following. .... Later he understood it was not a missile but a part of shelling. Only, Sir could reply whether it was true or not. Oh, I heard he was also interested in assembling computer. Sir, is it true? I left IAF in 2008 but Wg CDR Chetan Bali, Wg Cdr Lal and yours memory is still very vivid in my mind. Jai Hind.
