Before I knew of these top filling bladders, I just sliced one side of the bottom of the Sawyer bag. Works just as well and you can still hang it from a tree.

Being a manufacturer the only reason I can think of is that sawyer invested big money into the machine and tooling for there bags and financially either can’t or won’t scrap it and go with something like this but with the money they make and other bags I don’t know for sure either way it’s dumb on there part
