These aren't true gingerbred but have always been a favorite of mine to make.
Molasses Crinkles

3/4 cups shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup light molasses
2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tablespoons baking soda
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 sugar

mix all ingredients except sugar. Chill thoroughly or overnight. Shape into balls the size of walnuts and dip in sugar. Place sugared side up on un-greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. I usually bake just one cookie to start and make sure the timing is right. Outside/inside temps can affect baking times.

I live in the Caribbean, I would stay in the Caribbean for Christmas although it would be nice to experience a white Christmas. I love the finished look of the card!

OMG! Im totally bummed i missed the live...loved watching though, that was an awesome show of how a card is really made lol...im glad im not the only one that goes through this sometimes...k, so for curving your stamp sentiments...make tiny shallow clips along the bottom side so it can spread a bit easier. if still tough make a teeny triangle cut on top where there is room..sewing tips for curved pieces lol.. totally helps in paper crafting too..thank you so much, the card is awesome!

Whoa! Just finished watching. I'm happy you persevered. This card is so much nicer than the original card. I've had many white Christmases. I would prefer a warm Christmas. But for me a warm Christmas would be in the 50's.

We are on a beach somewhere. We had a trip to Hawaii planned the same time you did earlier this year. We both had to cancel them. We just rescheduled ours. We have been in Maui since Monday and are heading home next Wednesday. We will be in a cooler climate once we get home. And I do like the cooler climate around the holidays. Hope you get to reschedule your trip very soon.

I loved the end result! It was fun to watch! Living in Alaska, I always have a white Christmas! Especially this year... 30" of snow this week already! I wouldn't mind some warm beach somewhere about now...
