How Much Does a BMW Really Cost? 12 Months Later…

Going over how much is has cost over the last year to own and maintain my BMW 430D as someone in their 20's.

I'd personally prefer to have a car with more miles on the clock that has never been significantly crashed.
I pay £400 insurance for me and the wife on out 2010 330D, with some business use. And like 20 years no claims bonus.
Oil and filter changes are very quick and easy to do on these as a DIY job. Thanks to the hand access flap for the sump drain plug and the easy to access filter locations, apart from the fuel filter.
Good choice on the Bridgestone tyres. Goodyear, Michelin, Continental, some Hankooks etc would also be a fine choice.
I prefer non runflats and bought a space saver spare wheel that I chuck in the boot for long trips.

The brake disks and pads you should be able to do yourself.
Whilst you're about it you could bleed out and replace the brake fluid, so that's sorted for another 2 years.

These 6 cylinder BMW diesels are great drivers cars. So much so that it's easy to forgive a few annoying things that have to be fixed on them from time to time.
