B.C. budget 2023 expected to go into deficit

Finance Minister Katrine Conroy says British Columbia's financial status will not be as rosy as it has been over the past year. Conroy suggests that deficits are now in the province's future following last year's budget, where a surplus of almost $6 billion was projected that saw the government spend on affordability, infrastructure and housing initiatives.

We have a $5B surplus because the Fed Govt sent us a bunch of money owed... Eby proceeds to spend like a drunk sailor and shovels money off the back of the truck rather than pay off pretty much all the debt.

I’m no accountant, but maybe if you have a surplus, you shouldn’t waste it when you’re expecting a deficit…? That’s the problem with politicians, they produce nothing and just spend every cent they can. But I mean she’s not buying new shoes, so it is a start.

Build the pipeline, harness our resources, lift those struggling out of poverty so we can all work together instead of worrying about paying the bills because bad policies have made life so insanely expensive.
