FLW Tour Pro Patrick Bone explains a unique offshore topwater approach to finding and catching bass. Mid-summer, offshore bass often relate to deep cover and structure such as sunken brush, grass, ledges, points, and humps. Topwaters, and in particular, walking-style lures such as the Heddon Zara Spook can be extremely effective when fished over these spots, especially in clear water. Time of day isn’t as critical as most people think — sun mixed with a sprinkling of clouds and a light wind can serve up all-day action.

So do you need a good stiff rod with the tip that bends everytime you work that bait? Because im having trouble working mine on top. I have seven foot lightning rod that medheavy and fast action.
