BMW M52/M54 ENGINE COLD START TICKING SOUND POSSIBLE FIX

This video shows what could be the cause of ticking or rattling noise in your BMW with M52/M54 petrol engine.
This oil return valve in the oil filter housing can get stuck or tilted and it will drain the oil from the oil filter housing straight to the oil sump. Red oil light stays on for too long because oil filter housing is empty from oil and it takes more time to reach normal oil pressure. This increases wear and stress to the engine.

I changed my oil filter housing, made sure the return valve was working and properly seated in its hole. Since then, everything works like it should and cold starts are healthier now.

I think you mightve saved me either way im going to plan to remove it and check it by any chance how did you tell that was the damage? Was it because the return valve was moving or what?
