What Child is This - The Petersens (LIVE)

It's the best time of the year! This Christmas song, "What Child is This," is sung by our "adopted" (not really) brother Emmett Franz. As you might have noticed in other videos, Emmett is an incredibly talented dobro player. He is also an amazing vocalist and played music for several years with his family, the Franz Family. And as always, videography was done by our dear friend, Aaron Clark!

Fun fact: This carol was written in 1865, and five years later set to the tune of "Greensleeves."

►LYRICS - What Child is This
What Child is this, who laid to rest
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping

This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring Him laud
The Babe, the son of Mary

So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh
Come peasant, king to own Him
The King of kings salvation brings
Let loving hearts enthrone Him

Raise, raise a song on high
The Virgin sings her lullaby
Joy, joy for Christ is born
The Babe, the son of Mary

This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring Him laud
The Babe, the son of Mary

Nails, spear shall pierce Him through
The cross he bore for me, for you
Hail, hail the Word made flesh
The Babe, the son of Mary

To all of you who want to be big music stars, watch these kids very carefully and learn. There is NO auto-tune, no big amps, no dancers, no smoke, no crazy stage lights. There IS a lot of practice, good arrangements, masters of their instruments (both wooden and voice), honest pleasure, and an abundance of talent. Kudos to mom & dad. Ya done good!

I love this version. Emmett's lead vocals with Katie and Ellen's backing harmonies are perfect.

The moment when Emmet started singing Katie's and Ellen's immediately showed a pure joy of listening to him. Music of the Petersens Family is heavenly but what I found most charming is the way each member of group support others. Watching their faces blazing with joy is enought to keep me pinned :)

Absolutely gorgeous! Emmett is truly a gifted singer and dobro player. The 'a cappella' singing at the end of this video is just stunning.

many singers try to amaze the audience with sets and special effects, while you just need your voice, music and your presence....

I felt the spirit the moment Emmet started singing. And Katie and Ellen added the cherry to top it all off. Wonderful. Thank you Petersens for this precious gift at this time of year. Terrific voice Emmet.
