Thank you for mentioning The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. It is also my favorite of the Bronte novels, and so often it is overlooked!

I've never heard of these low-value ideas, but I guess it's good that I'm now aware of them since I have 2 boys who are entering their teenage years and I imagine there's a good chance they'll encounter shit like this. (And as always, I love your take on the topic!)

Excellent video, Brian! Thank you for being a stand-upper! Sadly, I think the chances of a so-called high-value man watching this video until the end and much less reading any of these books is quite low, unfortunately. But one can try to spread the message! 😊

I am certainly a work in progress. Thank you, reading, for broadening my perspective.

I love your approach here, Brian! It should be a Tag because now I want to see everyone’s recommendations for “high value” men.

Wonderful list! ❤
I think the term "high value man" is hilarious. It reminds me of "high calorie food" and now I'm hungry.

Another great video. The algorithm must be working well because I haven't heard of this term or seen any such videos (cat videos mainly). Great list of books in any case. I would welcome a list of books that would give an insight into men too. Look forward to your next upload.

Thank you, Brian!🌷I’ve only read A Room of One’s Own (a favourite of all time) and Boulder (quite impressive). I’ve written down the rest. I wasn’t familiar with the concept “high-value men”. Anyway, this is a great list and, even though your … target group may not be interested😉, I’m very happy you made it!😊📚

This is a terrific list! I especially love The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and The House of Mirth. I second the inclusion of Jane Eyre, Cranford and Strout's Lucy books.

One would wish, in 2023, that lists for things high value men should know would all be tongue in cheek. That said, I'd add works by Carol Shields (The Stone Diaries) and Elizabeth Strout to this very fine list of titles, too.

Judging by the title, I thought it would be taking the piss (not that there's anything wrong with that), but it turned out to be an actual reading list) What a great idea for a video, thanks for your work!

Had no idea about ‘High Value’ men! Great recommendations here and I hope they reach the intended audience. Very interested in lots of these, but particularly in Ghost in the Throat, I’m Afraid of Men and Strange Weather in Tokyo.

I can't really comment on your choices since I've read none of these books, but I do think Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte should be on any list, as well as at least two of Austen's major work I also recommend Cranford by Mrs. Gaskell. Some of George Sand's work in 19th Century France, too, though only a few have been translated in modern times. French women were not shackled by notions of "being a lady" and often
did things that would horrify even "advanced" Anglo Saxon women. An American woman writer that seems to have been forgotten is Willa Cather and her "A Lost Lady" is excellent.
More recently (the 60's) Joyce Elbert's The Crazy Ladies, and The Goddess Hangup. And even Grace Metalious' Peyton Place. In France, we shouldn't forget Francoise Sagan who always wrote thoughtful, often scandalous books (Bonjour Tristesse, La Chamade ), Then The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, by Muriel Spark who is a wonderful writer. From Japan something by Banana Yamamoto. These writers were not apologetic about being a woman, or suffering from an inferiority complex from being one. None of the one's I've mentioned really focused on motherhood, whereas several that you mentioned did. In fact, with the exception of George Sand none of the writers I've suggested actually were mothers. So that may be a limitation on my list.

. I don't think reading books would make a man a better person, or "high value" although books might make him "cultured" and a bit more savvy where women are concerned. Most men don't have a clue about how women think, and the women complain about that, but so far as I can tell, the ladies, bless their hearts, do not seem very inclined to enlighten them. Cheers.

Love ❤️ Tenant!
A room of one’s own & house of mirth are good.
I haven’t read many of the more modern novels/ books you mentioned.

I doubt if your click bait will work on any high value seeking man except to draw nasty comments, but then again who knows. I love The Tenant of Wildfell Hall so I'm always glad to see it championed. I read I'm Afraid of Men last year and it was eye opening for me too. It speaks about certain experiences with men that I will never (thankfully) have as a cishet woman. I hate that anyone, male or female, ever has to feel as Shraya does.

I haven't read a few of your recommendations so I need to check those out. If they are good for men, they are definitely good for me.

Definitely a must read is Elena Ferrante's Neapoletan Quartet! It discusses friendship between girls/women, girlhood, motherhood, romantic and sexual relationships.
Brilliant video idea, will watch the video about male books that females should read next😊

Ten wonderful authors that I love. I really must read something by the eleventh, Vivek Shraya.

Yes, I'm a fan of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall also. You just reminded me, Brian, the BBC movie "To Walk Invisible" about the Bronte family. Now I know why Anne Bronte only wrote that novel. Great list for anyone.

I would offer "The Lost children Archive" to go on that list. One of the best studies of a blended family and parenting
