Honestly I think he had a bit idea of Zhi liking him but he didn't take it seriously bcz there were many scenes in early episodes were he would take glance at her it seemed he was teasing her..he had the similar gaze but later his feeling became stronger in Ep 11 though he tried best to hide it and also he was worried about affecting his friendship with Zhi's brother but this time his heart was insecure as what if Zhi falls for other person and he knew he couldn't let her go that's why he thought to pursue her no matter what happens.
And after getting into the relationship his gaze was much more filled with love. 💜💜
