Ash Williams VS Dean Winchester (Evil Dead VS Supernatural)
Two charismatic hunters of evil fight to the death to test their shotguns and willpower!
Connections:
Both are stoic, badass, courageous, comedic, charismatic, but secretly caring and understanding heroes, who are hunters of supernatural beings. As main protagonists of long-running horror franchises, both are allied with groups of heroic warriors (Jefes, and Hunters, respectively) that deal with supernatural threats.
Both share similar enemies such as the undead, killers, demons, and monsters.
Their stories both begin with losing a precious woman that they love (Ash's girlfriend Linda, and Dean's mother Mary, respectively), kickstarting their motivation to protect innocent people from supernatural beings.
They also both wield double-barrel shotguns, and a special bladed weapon (the Kandarian Dagger, and the First Blade and Demon-Killing Knife, respectively) that levels the playing field against dangerous demons and monsters.
Their most prized treasure and main mode of transportation is a classic sedan that they gave a nickname to (1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale, called "The Delta", and 1967 Chevrolet Impala, called "Baby", respectively). They also both use a special book in their adventures (Necronomicon, and John Winchester's Journal, respectively) that gives them information about their supernatural enemies.
Both were prophesized to be supernatural heroes from the beginning (Ash was written in the Necronomicon as the hero that would stop the Deadites, while Dean was chosen by the forces of Heaven to be the human vessel for Archangel Michael, respectively).
Both had complex relationships with their morally flawed fathers (Brock Williams, and John Winchester, respectively), who suffered an untimely death from supernatural causes (Brock Williams was run over by Ash's possessed vehicle "The Delta", while John Winchester sacrificed his life for his son Sam in a deal with the demon Azazel, respectively).
At some point, both have dealt with a secondary antagonist in the form of a rebellious female demon named Ruby.
Both have also made a deal with a demon for the benefit and protection of their friends and allies (Ash spared Ruby and they had a truce, with the condition that Ash and his allies would not be attacked by the Deadites under Ruby's control, while Dean made a deal with a Crossroads Demon to sell his soul to Hell, in order to bring his brother Sam back to life, respectively).
Later on, both were able to briefly have a normal life away from demon-hunting, but then were called back to their heroic lives.
At one point, both have died, only to return back to life, and have also battled against demonic possession themselves. As heroes, both masterfully overcame these obstacles.
Both have a last name that starts with the letter "W".
Their respective series both have a "horror mystery action adventure" style, with some elements of comedy and drama, and are critically successful and well-received. Both horror franchises are also under Warner Bros.
