Scrolling message display 16x96 pixels using three HUB75 matrix modules and Arduino

Demo of an Arduino mega2560 controlled scrolling message sign I put together which receives a message over serial (RS232 / USB or bluetooth module) and displays it in several selectable display modes. There is a built in serial menu that asks you to type the message for line 1 and then the message for line 2. The display modes are selectable by a push button switch. A second switch steps through 7 different brightness levels.

Display modes are large red single line, large yellow single line, large bold single line and then two line versions of the same. There's also colour weave mode where the text changes colour as it scrolls.

The whole thing is controlled by an Arduino mega 2560 as the displays use a lot of ram hence the Arduino Uno and other mega328 based boards simply don't have enough ram especially in double buffer mode. Each module uses around 1.5kb ram so a microcontroller with 8kb is required.

Note the flickering and stuttering is due to my camera. It scrolls smoothly across the display.

This was made just to play around, this won't be getting made into a final project and will probably end up on eBay. It came about because someone wanted a message display to put in their car rear window to advise other motorists what he thought of their driving. Lol.

Really nice, looks that you tested all letters to display :)
