Val could guess that these guys are from another dimension, he figured out who was the squid and a way to defeat Cacao, but he could not figure out, who is the villain here, the most obvious thing, considering the apperance of the butler robot or these teo guys. And this dum-dum Victor could not even sense how dangerous and evil Black Hat is, so he lost the companion that he just got and he was too quick to embrace the fact that he was helping the villains, because he thought it was cool. Shame on both of them.
