The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is a high-performance sports car that emphasizes an exhilarating open-top driving experience. It pays homage to the rich motorsport heritage of Mercedes-Benz, combining cutting-edge technology with a design that reflects racing aesthetics. The car features a radically open design, lacking both a roof and windscreen, which enhances the connection between the driver, passenger, and the surrounding environment.

The design of the PureSpeed is characterized by its low silhouette and long bonnet, complemented by a distinctive shark-nose front end. The front fascia includes wide air intakes and prominent AMG branding. The aerodynamics of the vehicle have been meticulously crafted; small deflectors on the front and sides minimize turbulence for occupants while maintaining high-speed stability. The use of carbon fiber elements not only contributes to weight reduction but also enhances aerodynamic efficiency.

The wheels are 21 inches in diameter and feature carbon fiber covers designed to reduce drag. The rear covers are fully closed to decrease air resistance, while the front covers are open to facilitate airflow for brake cooling.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that produces 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of approximately 315 km/h (196 mph). The engine is paired with an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission that provides rapid gear shifts for enhanced performance.

A notable safety innovation in the PureSpeed is its HALO system, which replaces traditional A-pillars found in most vehicles. Inspired by Formula 1 designs, this system includes a robust tubular steel structure that protects occupants' heads during potential accidents. Additionally, it features integrated roll bars for added safety during rollover incidents.

The vehicle also comes equipped with specially designed helmets for both driver and passenger that include intercom systems for clear communication at high speeds. These helmets can connect to smartphones for music playback or phone calls.

In terms of environmental considerations, the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed has a combined fuel consumption rating of 13.7 liters per 100 kilometers and emits approximately 312 grams of CO₂ per kilometer, placing it in CO₂ emission class G.

Only 250 units of the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed will be produced, making it an ultra-exclusive model within Mercedes' lineup. The production version was unveiled at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after being previewed as a concept earlier in May.
