Just an hour's drive from London is the old market town of Farnham. A different world, of quaint narrow streets lined with some of the finest Georgian architecture in the South of England.

Farnham has a long and fascinating history, which is still clearly evident today. The medieval castle offers magnificent views over the local parkland and the Georgian town centre with its selection of good restaurants, pubs and art galleries.

There is a comprehensive range of both shopping and recreational facilities including three excellent golf courses, four health clubs and a sports centre. These are complemented by local fishing and sailing facilities whilst the Frensham Country Park covers over a thousand acres of countryside -- plenty of space in which to ramble and relax. Further afield there is the UK's largest bird park and a Sculpture Park at Devil's Jump which boasts some of the finest views in Surrey.

Farnham train station has a regular service to London, Waterloo and easy road links to the A3 for London, Portsmouth, Guildford and Winchester.

Britains first ever F1 world champion lived in Farnham. At the age of 3 he moved from Yorkshire to Farnham with his parents.
2 Min 36 shows Mike favourite pub the Barley Mow at Tilford Green.
Mike Hawthorn is buried in west street cemetery his grave is just inside the second entrance right beside the small parking area = this entrance is furthest from the town, his Father Leslie is also buried directly opposite Mike just across the tarmac🏁🙏

Once it was a lovely town but they've demolished the shopping centre and left an area like a bomb site and built a multi-storey car park that resembles a concrete bunker. It looms over an area where the lost bowling greens and tennis courts, and yes, a theatre - all gone. And this is for shoppers that might not ever arrive now they've heard of internet shopping and been interrupted by covid. If they do, altered key town-centre streets have been reduced to a single lane to make this more difficult and we have "Farnham In Bloom" road-blocks to further slow traffic which costs the council tax payer 90 grand a year, and a by-pass going through the middle of the town, so driving north south isn't an easy option. We have good schools, but nothing to keep our kids here once they've left. Just the opinion of someone that's lived in Farnham for half a century....
