An English grammar lesson about the difference between THERE IS and THERE ARE.
We learn the general meaning of THERE IS and THERE ARE and look at how to make affirmative sentences with THERE IS and THERE ARE.
We also see how THERE IS is used with uncountable nouns.
We then do a quick quiz to practice the difference between THERE IS and THERE ARE. There are eight sentences, each one beginning with THERE which if followed by a blank space. The viewer needs to add either IS or ARE in that space to make that sentence grammatically correct.
The answers will appear after a short time.
Next, we learn how to create negative sentences with THERE IS and THERE ARE. We also look at contractions that are used a lot in spoken English.
Then we look at how to make questions with THERE IS and THERE ARE and how to ask if something exists or is available.
Then we take it to the next level by combining these words to make questions with HOW MANY?
We end this English grammar lesson with a summary chart of THERE IS and THERE ARE (includes the structure for affirmative and negative sentences as well as for making questions).
